What is HDB bereavement parking?
When a family holds a wake at an HDB estate — usually at a void deck — HDB lets the bereaved family arrange temporary parking nearby, so they can be close to their loved one during the wake without paying full daily rates or circling for a lot.
It's a small, quietly compassionate provision. The problem is that it's genuinely hard to find and apply for, because HDB doesn't give it an obvious button. This guide is the part nobody spells out.
The catch: there's no "bereavement parking" option
At the time of writing, the HDB portal has no dedicated "Bereavement Parking" choice to click. So families hunt around, give up, and either overpay for daily parking or make a wasted trip to a branch.
The real way in is through the Season Parking enquiry form — you submit a written request and attach the Death Certificate. It works, it's just not labelled. You can do it online or in person; the online route is faster, and frankly, going to the branch just has staff fill in the same online form for you.
How to apply online (the fast way)
1. Log in to the HDB portal with Singpass. 2. Scroll down and select Write to Us. 3. Type Season Parking, and click Season Parking. 4. Scroll down and select Submit your enquiry. 5. For the title, enter: [Immediate action] Bereavement Parking 6. Fill in the description using the template below. 7. Upload the deceased's Death Certificate. 8. Click Submit / Send.

On average, the reply comes through in about 1 to 3 hours — so apply early on the first day of the wake rather than waiting until cars are already piling up.
Applying in person
You can also go to any HDB Branch with the Death Certificate. Branch hours are weekdays 8.00am to 5.00pm, except the Ang Mo Kio, Bukit Merah, Punggol, Tampines and Woodlands branches, which open 9.00am to 5.00pm. The HDB Branch Service Line is 1800-225-5432. Just know that the counter will put you through the same online enquiry — so unless you'd rather do it face to face, the portal saves you the trip.
Is there a cost to apply?
Applying is free. There's no charge to submit the enquiry itself.
What HDB charges for the parking itself
The charges depend on the type of temporary parking selected. It applies to cars only.

Reserving parking lots for the wake setup
Don't confuse two different things:
1. Temporary parking for the family's own cars — everything above. 2. Reserving the adjacent surface lots so the wake setup (tentage, seating) can occupy them — a separate request.
For the second, apply to the managing HDB Branch, call 1800-225-5432, or submit via HDB's e-Feedback (Subject: Car Park; Category: Use of Car Parks for Non-Parking Purpose). And the void deck, multi-purpose hall or pavilion itself needs a permit from the Town Council that manages it.

In practice, most families never do any of this themselves — their funeral director handles the parking request, the Town Council permit and the void-deck booking together.
